Fieldstone is a leading independent investment bank in energy and infrastructure. We make transactions happen in some of the most difficult markets in the developing world, a skill which has made us a market leader in Africa and a growing presence in Latin America. Using our presence in the money centers of the developed world, we work with prominent and aspiring investors in the sector, linking capital with carefully structured products. We strive to be at the forefront of the market - applying new financial approaches and bringing best international practices to every situation. We are ambitious and, as one team, are dedicated to excellence.
Fieldstone was founded in 1990 and has taken part in transactions worth over $50 billion. Fieldstone’s record of success stems from its reputation, access and reach.
Fieldstone’s reputation is fostered by its continuing primary focus on energy and infrastructure. Fieldstone pursues a commitment to excellence as an expert in the field. In order to enhance its knowledge and contact base in what is a truly international industry, Fieldstone has maintained a world-wide presence from the outset. Currently, Fieldstone operates from and for clients in Africa, Europe, Latin America, North America and Asia. The scale and complexity of transactions in this field demands an exacting approach and proactive commitment to deliver results. This manner of engagement informs all of Fieldstone’s activities.
Fieldstone’s advisory practice extends from the detailed demands of project finance to the broader challenges of mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, refinancing, restructuring, project development, privatisation, and strategic advice. Over the years, Fieldstone has acted for a range of clients from the largest listed entities to single project developers to governments and development finance institutions, including export credit agencies. Accordingly, Fieldstone is uniquely positioned to access the best source of capital in every instance which is integral to its identity as an independent advisor free of balance sheet conflict.
Fieldstone’s experience extends to transacting on other large capital projects beyond energy and infrastructure. As an example, Fieldstone was awarded global mining transaction of the year 2017 for the financing of a greenfield project. Other sectors recently serviced include industrial, hospitality and transportation. In all that we do, we are careful to ensure that we are able to deliver value through the right combination of skills, experience and relationships.
Fieldstone offers an increasing array of financial services beyond advisory. Fieldstone founded the first listed renewables fund in Africa and will be co-managing a project debt fund for a multi-lateral sponsor in 2019. The Fieldstone subsidiary FAIR (Fieldstone Africa Investment Resources) engages with sponsors, financial institutions and governments to unlock smaller generation projects that require assistance beyond advisory, including investment in development. FAIR has established a record of success since its establishment in 2016, with several projects brought to close and a pipeline of new projects under contract. Finally, Fieldstone is increasingly involved in energy technology, not only as an advisor in developed markets but also looking to unlock value in the application of technology in developing markets. Fieldstone is consciously striving to offer a more varied set of products and services to make full use of its unique position in the market and to better serve our clients.
